The “Novice Effect” is a term coined by world renowned strength coach Mark Rippetoe. To sum it up, The Novice Effect is related to all beginning lifers and new exercisers, and it starts for a period time your body will continually adapt to the stresses placed on it by getting stronger. As long as you continually increase the stress, your body will continually get stronger. There are 3 ideas that make this happen:

  • Neuromuscular efficiency, the nervous signal being sent through your body finds faster ways to its end destination.
  • Muscular strength, meaning as you get stronger, you build more muscle.
  • Exercise from perfection, the more you learn how to execute an exercise flawlessly, the easier the movement becomes.
